check-ups

Well, today was doctor day for the boys. Walker's 6 year and Wyatt's 6 month check ups. Sadly, they both had to get shots. Wyatt's was no surprise, but Walker's was. I didn't realize that Walker needed an immunization today; I thought his pediatrician's office from Columbia told me he wouldn't need any more for a while. They must have overlooked this one. He'll be getting another one in 6 months....that'll be fun. Walker doesn't do well with shots, and that's putting it mildly. Not only did he have to get a shot, but they drew blood. Ahhh, it was such a lovely visit!
The Stats:
Walker-38.8lbs (he lost 2 1/2lbs); 44.5" tall. We are going to be starting Walker on a high-calorie diet. Just gotta figure out what he'll actually eat that will help. Walker also did poorly on his hearing test. He's been telling me for the last few days that he's having a hard time hearing. He didn't hear anything on the normal level. They believe that it's due to his chronic ear infections and he possibly has some fluid. Walker will be on antibiotics for 2 rounds (about 1 month). Hopefully that will clear it up, otherwise he'll be going back to an ENT--possibly tubes again? We'll see what happens.

Wyatt-18.4lbs; 27.5" long; 17.5" head. I did not get his percentile ranges for all the shot and blood drama. :) He's perfectly healthy.

Another busy week ahead....

It's Monday again....Whew, it was a busy weekend for us.
Good news: the necessary painting is complete! Well, for the most part. I have some touch up stuff to do, but otherwise what needed to be done for us to move in, is done. FINALLY! ;)
We did not paint the bathrooms, laundry room, nor our bedroom. We will also be saving the kitchen cabinets for after we move in. We will use VOC paint to finish up the other rooms.

Thanks to Nana and Aunt Erika, we were able to get this done. Had it not been for them, Randy would have had to do it all himself since Walker can't be in the house while painting is being done due to his asthma. They kept both boys morning to evening on Saturday and Sunday. It was a huge help!

This week we will move in. Our goal is to be completely moved in and the apartment here cleaned by end of day on Friday.....that way we can enjoy the holiday weekend in our new home. It will be a busy week to say the least.....speaking of which, I better get busy. Just finished working for the morning, now I need to get the kitchen work done here then the boys and I will be taking some things over to the new house.
Let the moving begin!

Wyatt is 6 months old today! Where has the time gone?
Then Now

My mother-in-law was released from the hospital today. Thankfully, she is doing much better. Thank you to all who had her in your thoughts and prayers. It was a very scary time for all of us and we are so happy she made it through the ordeal.

Weekend Happenings -- June 20, 21
Saturday
Took the boys over to my moms. Not as early as I'd liked, but I guess late is better than never. The price you pay for free babysitting, I guess.
Moving on......Randy and I did get a few things accomplished. I cleaned and sanitized the refrigerator and helped with some trim work. Randy painted. We then went back to my moms to get the boys and Randy put together Erika's new desk....guess it really wasn't free :) He was happy to do it though.
Father's Day
I can't believe this, but I have absolutely no pictures taken on Father's Day 2009. I don't know why I didn't think of it. I wish I had a pic of Randy (wearing his gift) and the boys.
I helped the boys make a shirt for their Daddy...with Walker's hand print and Wyatt's foot print. Walker painted a picture of a knight with a sword, shield and topped off with a bloody leg! LOL We went out for breakfast at IHOP then Randy went to the new house to paint. What a great way to spend Father's Day....Poor Daddy. :( We are thankful for all of his hard work.
Seems that all of our spare time (ha-ha) has been spent trying to get things ready for us to move in.....

update

Quick note before I run out the door to the new house....my MIL was released from the hospital late Friday afternoon. She is doing much better! Thanks to all for the thoughts and prayers. Please continue to pray for her smoking cessation. She is doing great, though. Yesterday only had 4 1/2 cigarettes! Since she was about a 2 pack a day smoker, I am proud of her effort! She's getting up and doing a little something every day.

Well, the boys and I are off the the new place to get some cleaning done. Still so much to get done before we move in.
Have a great day!

Great News!

My mother-in-law has been taken off the ventilator! YAY! The tube was removed yesterday afternoon. She is still in ICU, but making progress. She's giving the staff a run for their money, I can tell you that....as soon as the tube was out she told us she was ready to go home. I told her she has to get better first. My father-in-law told me that she was trying to get out of bed. They gave her something to make her rest. Hopefully she'll be a little more calm today and will soon be out of ICU.
Thank you for all of the thoughts and prayers. She still has a long recovery, but I think the hardest part for her will be trying to stop smoking. Please continue to pray for her. As a former smoker, I know the power of that addiction. Even though the nicotine will be out of her system when she comes home, it will still be a struggle for her. I just hope she tries her best.
I pray that she will get to watch her grandsons grow up.

I will update again with any changes. Thanks again!

MIL Update

Well, there's not much to tell right now. She is pretty much the same. Still on the vent. The docs MAY try to wean her off tomorrow....so fingers crossed all is well and they're able to do it.
I spent about 3.5 hours at the hosptial this morning/afternoon with my FIL while my lil' sis watched the boys for me....she's an angel (when she wants to be ;) and was a great help to me today. After I got home I determined it to be a fine day to escape the reality of the hospital scene and take the boys and Erika to the pool. It was great....I think it was a great way for us to de-stress.
So, I will continue to post updates.

Thank you for all the prayers and please keep them coming!

Prayers Needed

Yesterday afternoon (Monday, June 15th) my FIL called me to come help him, something was wrong with my MIL. She had been sleeping all day, which sleeping til noon or so for her isn't unusual at all (they are both retired). He checked in on her throughout the day, but the later it became, he began to get concerned. He tried to wake her up, but she would not respond. That's when he called for me.
When I got to her room, she looked bad...had a waxy appearance and was clammy to the touch. I could barely see her breathing. I immediately called 911. We tried and tried to wake her up with no luck. When the ambulance arrived one of the EMT's thought that she was no longer breathing, but she was...it was just very shallow.
Wilma was rushed to the hospital where she was put on a ventilator and is now in ICU.
She is in grave condition.
Please pray for her recovery. Please pray that when she recovers she will have the strength to stop smoking as this, coupled with the use of oxygen, is the only way for her to prolong her life. Please pray for my FIL. Please pray for my husband and his 3 sisters, as well as the rest of the family. And, please also say a special prayer for Walker; he is very worried about his Nana.
I will update with her status as there are changes.
Thank you.

Well, the first 2 weeks of my 'Work with the kids' trial period is coming to a close. I must say, it's a success! I'm so happy it's worked out. Not that it hasn't been hard, but I can see that it is completely doable. I'm so happy that I don't have to send either of the kids to daycare/daycamp! It's a true blessing, to say the least. I believe it's about to get even easier.....let me explain.

WE ARE MOVING!! YAY! No, not out of town (again). We're actually making a local move and staying in good ole Fort Oglethorpe! It was important for us to stay where Walker won't have to change schools.

It's nothing fancy, as per Walker's instructions; rather it's a fixer, but I think it'll be a great place for us. And even though it's not the "fancy house" that Walker wanted, he's very excited. He can't wait to have his new room painted (dark blue).

There's a great sunroom which will serve as my office and the boys playroom. The kitchen and bathrooms are U-G-L-Y, but we can deal with that for a bit. Some paint, clean carpets and new flooring in the kitchen/dining area will make a big difference. EVERY room in the house (with exception to the laundry room) is painted green. I like green and all; in fact my sofa and love seat are mostly green, but I don't want it in every room and not this particular shade of green! LOL

We do have an obstacle in the living room to find a work-around....there used to be a wood burning stove in the living room. So there's brickwork that looks like for a fireplace, but nothing is there. I think for now we're going to try to find a entertainment center to put in front of it....or maybe we can find a good deal on an electric fireplace. IDK
We also have the issue of furniture....as in, we need more. Because of the sunroom, we have use for more living room furniture. I'd actually like to put our current furniture in the sunroom and have a sectional for the living room....but that will have to wait for a while. If anyone knows of someone selling (cheap) or giving away decent living room furniture, please let me know. Can't afford to get what I want right now, so we'll just make due.
Oh, almost forgot to mention.....the home sits on 1 1/2 acres....great feature to us!
Anyhow, here are a few pictures.....but, remember that it's a fixer and needs a good cleaning!
Notice the lopsided mailbox? That will be replaced ASAP! ;)

The above mentioned issue in the living room.

So, there you go. Our new pad. How do you like all of the green paint? It's soooo purdy! LOL I think I've decided on the paint colors, so we'll be going to buy that on Friday (also known as payday!)

So far, so good

Well, it's day 3 of my 2 week (10 work days) trial period. It's going pretty well. The main problem I'm having is getting my butt out of bed at 5:15am because I can't seem to get it in bed at a decent hour. It'll just take some getting used to I suppose.

I'm so happy that it seems to be working out. I'm enjoying the days with the boys. I think we'll fall into our own little routine before long.

Ps. I haven't updated on this lately, but I have lost a total of 18.4 lbs on Weight Watchers. Granted, it's taken my 12 weeks to do it, but it's coming down and that's the main thing. I'm hoping to loose a total of 40 lbs by Labor Day.....keep your fingers crossed!

I have lost my mind!

Seriously, does something happen when you give birth that makes you insane? That is exactly what I think happened to me.
I know that when I was pregnant that I told MANY people "I will NEVER do this again! I hate being pregnant!" Yep, said it many times.....and now my crazy brain tells me "it wasn't that bad, you can do it again.....wouldn't it be nice to have another baby.....wouldn't it be cool if I could have a little girl.....wouldn't be that bad to do it all again" What is wrong with me?!

I've been telling Randy this for some time now....He usually responds with one of the following statements:
Uh, NO WAY!
No more babies!
Two is enough!
We're getting too old to have more.
And maybe a few others that I won't put on here for fear of being banned from blogger! lol

Then, last week his mom asks him if we could try for one more and maybe have a little girl. He asked me if I'd put his mom up to asking him that. For the record, the answer is NO. But, it made me think that maybe I'm not completely crazy because someone else thinks it's a good idea.
I know in my head now is not the time for another baby, but what about a year from now? Who knows.....I think a family of 5 would be great.

I think that I may have lost my mind to even think such crazy thoughts! And I KNOW Randy would agree! LOL

PS. Walker told me the other day that he wished he could have more brothers. I asked him "How many are we talking about?" Walker answers, "10! All brothers!" I respond with a laugh and say "That's not going to happen." Walker says "Why?" Me: "That's just too many kids. We'd never be able to buy you & Wyatt toys if we had that many kids in our family!" Walker: "Oh, well we don't need that many, I guess." LOL
