Pollen Sucks!

Yep, I said it! And if you live in the SE, especially in a valley between mountains where it seems to just settle, you're thinking it!
Not only am I miserable with a headache that WILL NOT go away, but my asthmatic son is sneezing (but not wheezing, thank goodness) and sniffling, and my van (I got back on Friday from the collision center) is covered in a lovely yellow hue. YUCK!
Since I'm feeling a bit nauseous, I'm afraid this headache may be turning into a migraine...it's really killing me. I haven't had a migraine since I was a teenager, but this one is bringing back those memories. Maybe having a baby has done something to my body to trigger this? IDK, but it's not fun.
Ok, I guess I'm finished whining now....
later, tater!

Birthday Worries and Catch Up

We have the big party coming up this weekend. Walker is so very excited. We're expecting a fairly decent turn out between family and friends.....but we're getting nervous about the weather. I just saw on the news this morning that there's a 50% chance of rain for Saturday.

What to do, what to do. The party is planned to be at a local park where there's a great playground for all the kids to play on. What a bummer it will be if it gets rained out.

I'll keep my eye on the weather forecast and hope for the best.
Here are a couple of pics:

Walker's so silly

Sweet Brothers

Ok, so I totally forgot to post Wyatt stats from his 4 month check up. He weighed in at 15lbs 8oz and 26" long. He's in the 64th percentile for his weight and 87th percentile for his length. He's doing great. He is starting to get a bit of a flat spot on his head. I asked the doc about it and told him that Wyatt hates tummy time and just cries when he's on his tummy, so I don't make him stay.....doc replied in his sweet, accented way "Wyatt is 4 months old, you are the boss now. A little crying never hurts." Which I took as 'get him used to it so his head rounds back out'. So, that's what we're doing. We're starting out slow...but I let him stay on his tummy for a bit even after he starts crying. I will admit that I haven't done it every day and I'm having a hard time letting him cry. I try playing with him while he's on his tummy, but he just doesn't like it. I will just keep trying. If there is no improvement, we'll talk to Dr. E about it again.

Walker is doing GREAT in baseball. To this day, Walker has not been struck out at bat. He's gotten out on base. He has hit the ball every time he's been to bat! And, boy, let me tell you...his fielding skills have really improved....still much to improve on, but what a difference in just a few short weeks.

Will follow up with the party details :)

TTFN!

From the Land of Walker

A picturesque setting....I'm holding baby Wyatt as we sit swinging in the warm sunshine; we're watching Randy and Walker play catch. Randy has just (that day) picked up a new glove so Walker's major league type throws wouldn't sting his hand (his old glove is somewhere in storage). They were having a great time. I was having a great time watching them play.

Out of the blue Walker says so sweetly "Daddy, when I'm an adult, but without the fat belly, I'm going to get a big glove like that."

Yes, he said "...without the fat belly..."!! I thought I was going to pee my pants!! Thank God I was sitting while holding Wyatt! Randy, bless his heart, took it in stride and just said, "Yes, Walker, when you're an adult, without a fat belly, you can have a big glove like Daddy's."

Ahhh, you just have to love the innocent mind of a child. They think it, they say it! No censoring.

Questions from the Land of Walker

"Mommy, how come Coach Dallas calls us 'Defense' when we're on the field? I thought we were the Warriors."

What a fabulous questions! I thought so anyway. So I went on to explain that they are still, in fact, the Warriors....I explained the term defense to him as best I could as it relates to the game of baseball.

I just had to share because I thought it was so cute. :)

Sometimes the million+ daily questions can grate on my nerves, but there are those that are just so insightful and/or cute that make the constant barrage worthwhile.

Where did he get those blue eyes?

From the Good Lord above us.....that's where!

Just had to post a pic that show off these pretty blue eyes.....not sure if they'll stay this way since Randy and I both have brown eyes....but blue eyes do run in our families, so who knows. :)

Vader Hater

That's right.....I'm dissin' Star Wars!
Does anyone else know the pain of finding a Darth Vader cake mold? Virtually impossible unless I want to pay premium price for a vintage 1980's mold on Ebay. Um, I don't think so.

The people who brought back Star Wars as Star Wars the Clone Wars and have sucked my 5 year old into the world of Star Wars should be incarcerated! Come on, if you're going to have something like that, please make a freaking cake mold! Since the stores around here don't have the licensing to make Star Wars cakes, I have to do it myself.

Right now, I'm a Vader Hater! UGH!!!!

I've done my research though and have found some great ideas...so, I'm going to make it myself. Walker's birthday isn't for a few more weeks, but I'll be sure to post pics. Hopefully it won't be a complete flop. I made him a Spider Man cake when he turned 4, but it was from a mold...I sure hope I can pull this off!

May the Force be with you (and me)!!

A Baseball Infused Easter

As I write this I am feeding my sweet baby boy. His right arm is tucked under my left and he is tickling the back of my arm with his tiny fingers. Oh, how I will miss this one day. It makes my heart ache to think of how fast he's growing. I thought about this often over the Easter weekend as I watched Walker in his parade, playing ball, his excitment on Easter morning to see what the Easter Bunny left him........I'll get to do this all over again with Wyatt, and that warms my heart...but where has the time gone? How has my baby grown into such a little man so quickly? When Wyatt is 5, like his big brother is now, Walker will be almost 11! Maybe it's because Wyatt will be 4 months old on Sunday or maybe it's because Walker's 6th birthday is just 3 weeks away that I am thinking so much about this....who knows. I told Randy that when my babies think they are too old for their mother, then I'm getting a tiny little puppy--a girl one, that I can dress up and will never talk back to me and will always want me. But I hope that will be many, many years from now and then it'll be about time for grandchildren! haha!!

Ok, moving on.....As you've hopefully read on my previous post, our Easter weekend started out a little bumpy. But, we had to move on and get up early Saturday morning for the LFORA Parade and Opening Ceremony.

The Parade

Walker played a game at 2 and they won 8-1!! Way to go!! Walker is really enjoying baseball and is doing so well. We're so very proud of him.

Good Friday Gone Bad

If you watched the news at all on Friday, April 10th, you know it was a horrible day for weather here in the southeast. Horrible storms spawning tornadoes, death and damage. So sad for those who lost loved ones and those who lost their homes.

As I heard on the news about the tragedy in Murfreesboro, TN, I thought of a friend who lives there and worried about her and her family's safety. Through Facebook, she let me know she was ok...Thank God! I was so sad to hear of the death of a young mother and her 9 week old baby. Walker's baseball coach's mother-in-law is a neighbor of the young woman and saw it all.

Our little incident on the same day was very minuscule in comparison, but I wanted to share nonetheless.

After the storms raged through our area in Northeast Georgia, we decided to go out for a drive. The air is always so fresh and everything looks so clean after a storm, so we wanted to take it all in.....while in Ringgold, we turned onto a road that we know very well. There is a hill and curve to go up just after you turn onto the road. A man coming from the other direction crossed into our lane while coming down the hill and around the curve. Thankfully, Randy has good driving reflexes and saw it and swerved just enough to avoid a head on collision. The man hit us starting from the front drivers side wheel all the way to the back wheel.

We are all ok. Walker was VERY upset that the man "wrecked us and made me spill my new root beer!" LOL kids....thank God they weren't hurt. Randy just about came unglued! It was a blessing that his door was difficult to open and had time to calm down before getting out of the van. I was actually sitting behind Randy because I'd just finished feeding Wyatt. I'm a little sore still, but I think just because I tensed up and grabbed a hold of Wyatt's seat just before impact.

Here's a camera phone shot....not really great, I took it at the collision center.

I took this as they were taking it off the wrecker to put into their building...couldn't be left outside because the door won't close all the way.

The man that hit us was very upset by the fact we had children in the car, as he's a father of 4. It was just an accident. He spoke to his insurance company right away and told them it was his fault so we were able to get a rental on Saturday morning.

The agent looked at the van Monday and made an initial estimate of $3500. That is an open estimate, so it could go up if they find anything else wrong.

It could have been much worse. I'm so thankful we're all ok.

Playing catch up

So, it's been nearly 2 weeks since my last post. I'll try to make this short and sweet...."TRY"
We'll start with last week. I took Walker on April 1st to get a new hair style. I say "hair style" rather than "hair cut" because I took him to my friend Lana (www.designbylana.com) at the Lemon Drop Salon on Lee Hwy in Chattanooga. I had told Lana that Walker hated having his hair cut with clippers and it seems barbers these days don't know how to handle kids and scissors. Walker hasn't had a good cut in quite some time and it was driving me crazy. She told me to bring him in to her and she'd get him a good cut. Walker loves to gel his hair so it can be in a faux-hawk or spiked....so he wanted a style that would allow for that, but still look good when nothing is done to it.
Lana, God love her, was able to get Walker to allow her to cut the back and sides with clippers. I think it was less his fear of the clippers and more of the person holding the clippers. He just loved Lana and was so good for her. He told me she is "the best hair cutter in the world!". Here are some pics of my handsome little man:

One Handsome Lil' Man

I have to say, that I just have the two most handsome boys in the world!! OMG, I just want to eat them up they are just so cute! Of course, I'm just a little biased. :)

Wyatt is growing by leaps and bounds these days. Mom and I weighed him at her house about 2 weeks ago and he was a whopping 15.5lbs! WOW! I measured him last week and he was 25 1/2" long! He's such a big boy. He's not rolling over yet, that is mostly because he still doesn't like tummy time very much, but he's smiling, laughing and cooing all the time. He's so vocal now and it's just so cute! Here are a few pictures of him from the last couple of weeks.

Now, on to Baseball!!!
Walker's team was supposed to have their first regular season game on Saturday, April 4th. We got a call on Thursday from his coach that they were going to play in a tournament at Chattanooga Valley. They lost their first game, but Walker scored his teams only run. Since it was a double elimination tourney, they played again about 45 minutes later...which gave us just enough time to have a lovely ballpark lunch....hot dogs! They won their second game and had to back on Sunday for another game. They won 2 games on Sunday. They were so good. They played their little hearts out. The last game they played on Sunday was so great. We only had 8 boys playing, the other team had about 15. Their coach was, let's just say a little aggressive. It was such a sweet win being the underdogs. They played their last game of the tourney on Tuesday. Sadly, they lost....again we only had 8 boys playing (it's spring break here, so families are on vacation) and it was FREEZING COLD! Here are some pics from the Chattanooga Valley Tournament:

Ok, so it wasn't a very short post....sorry about that. Had to get all these great pics in.
I hope you all have a wonderful Easter Weekend.
PS. LFORA Parade and Opening Ceremonies are this weekend!
