1 year stuff....

Ok, so Wyatt has not had his 1 year well baby check, but I would like to list his accomplishments as of today......

He is about 30 inches long and weighs about 22lbs.

He now has a total of 7 teeth.....4 of which are not yet out all the way--all his top teeth. He has 3 teeth on the bottom.

He is not walking independently yet, but he will stand unassisted for while and cruises the furniture and will walk pushing his toys.

He's a really fast crawler!!

He says Mama, Dada or Daddy, Nana, bubba (brother), baba....ok, so sometimes he's just making the sounds, but I believe that these are the ones he associates with people/things.

He still does not sleep all night. Someday.......

He's a happy baby.

His hair has a reddish hue to it and his eyes are pretty much the same color as when he was born....a grey/blue/green----which I suppose equals Hazel!

He still takes a bottle. We tried weaning him from it, but he didn't seem to be ready, so we'll try again soon.

He is no longer on formula. He drinks whole milk now.

He loves playing with his toys.

Seems to have good hand/eye coordination.

Tries to use a fork/spoon when eating.

Will no longer eat "baby food". He eats what we eat for the most part.

He loves his big brother. It so sweet to see them hug. Wyatt's face just lights up when Walker talks to him. It warms my heart.

That's about it. He's growing so fast!

I know, I know.....where have you been?? Sick. 3 out of the 4 of us have been sick. Sinusitis, bronchitis, and over all yuckyness has plagued our household. We are on an upswing from all the nastiness, but it's still lingering. I am positive that, eventually, we all will be able to breath freely again at some point.
Thanksgiving, well, Randy was still pretty sick. We went to his parents briefly before heading out to Ooltewah to Aunt Shirley's home.
I'd forgotten how stressful it can be to leave the cocoon of child-proofedness with an almost-one year old......stepping out of that little bubble is a lot of work in a non-childproofed home. :)
Now, Wyatt is not yet walking, but that doesn't stop him from trying to be everywhere and get into everything. Thank goodness Aunt Shirley's TV is securely mounted to the wall and the credenza below only had a few things that needed to be moved out of reach. Oh, the joys! :)
Black Friday shopping went ok.....I was so bummed that Randy wasn't feeling well enough to go, so it was just Mom and me. I know that you ladies are probably thinking that he just SAID he didn't feel well to get out of going with us, but believe it or not, he actually enjoys BF shopping! He's a wonderfully strange breed and I'm a lucky girl ;)
We've begun the Christmas decorating process. Thankfully, I found a great deal on Craigslist and got a 6 panel baby gate for $20. Yep, you read correctly---$20!!! The hubby found it--he is AWESOME! :) Those things are usually $70, so I had to clean it up, who cares. I look at it this way, that $50 I saved is that much more for Christmas.
So, that wonderful gate it already in use. We have rearranged the furniture in the living room to make room for the tree....so, the 6 panel gate blocks (most) of the tree from Wy's little hands and keeps him corralled in the living room. Ahhhh, so nice. The remainder of the decorating will happen throughout the week. I still don't feel 100% better and just can't get into the swing of things---just get tired and out of breath b/c of the bronchitis....so, I'm just doing a little at a time.
Also, this week is Randy's birthday. He will celebrate his 41st birthday on Wednesday!!

Throwback Thursday--special edition

Wyatt is 11 months old today!!!!

He's such a big boy now!

This week, last year....... Wyatt was HERE

On This Day in History.......November, 19th :

1863 President Abraham Lincoln delivered the Gettysburg Address as he dedicated a national cemetery at the site of the Civil War battlefield in Pennsylvania.

I usually list more than one, but this is the only thing that really stood out to me today.

I hope you all have a wonderful day.

Bless You!

Ok, so I had to share a funny moment......
This is an excerpt of a conversation had by me and my wonderful husband on our drive home from a birthday party today:

R: Thank you.
Me: What?
R: Thank you.
M: For what?
R: (getting irritated) You just said 'Bless you', so I'm saying 'Thank you.'.
M: What? Did you sneeze?
R: [chuckle]
M: Did I SAY 'Bless you'?
R: Yes. What kind of drugs are you taking?
M: I'm not taking drugs, honey. I'm just deliriously exhausted.

We both had a good laugh. I swear, I do not remember the sneeze, nor do I remember my evident "automatic" response to said sneeze.

Moms

Moms take a lot of crap.....but we turn that crap into fertilizer to keep our families strong and thriving.
Have a great day!

Veteran's Day

Thank a VETERAN today. If not for them, we wouldn't be able to post whatever we wanted on our blogs.

I say a special thank you to my brothers for serving. I myself was in the USAR, but never think of myself as a veteran because it was Reserves and I never served full time, never deployed and even went IRR early. But, my brothers serve as active duty military. My brother, Major George Johnson, has served his country in the US Army for about 12 years. He has been deployed to Bosnia, Turkey, Iraq and Afghanistan. My baby brother is just getting started in the US Air Force. I'm very proud of them both.
I also thank my father-in-law who was in the US Army as well and spent a lot of time in Germany.

Update

I visited my mother-in-law at the hospital this morning.
Not only does she have pneumonia, but she has also contracted a staph infection. Her o2 levels are still not where they would like them to be......but she says that she is feeling better.
It looks like she will remain in the hospital for now, possibly another day or two.
I ask for continued prayers.

Prayers Needed

My Mother-in-law is in the hospital with pneumonia. Please pray for a quick recovery. She has spent much too much time in the hospital as of late. We would love to see her healthy and able to enjoy the holidays this year. :)
Thank you!

Throwback Thursday

One year ago this week, this is a picture I posted on my blog. Wow!

Ahh, the glow of pregnancy......and I so miss the "big girls!" LOL

On this day in history:

1872 Susan B. Anthony was fined $100 for attempting to vote in the presidential election. She never paid the fine.

1935 The game "Monopoly" was introduced by Parker Brothers Company.

1940 President Franklin D. Roosevelt won an unprecedented third term in office, beating Republican challenger Wendell L. Willkie.

1968 Republican Richard M. Nixon won the presidency, defeating Vice President Hubert H. Humphrey and third-party candidate George C. Wallace.

1994 George Foreman became boxing's oldest heavyweight champion at age 45 by knocking out Michael Moorer in the 10th round of their WBA fight in Las Vegas.

2006 Saddam Hussein was convicted and sentenced by the Iraqi High Tribunal to hang for crimes against humanity. (He was executed the following month.)

Roseola almost ruined Halloween!

Last week Wyatt came down with a high fever. I kept him home from school on Wednesday thinking he probably just had a little bug or something and would probably be better by the next day. Well, his fever kept going up. Went to the doc on Thursday. They thought he probably had the flu, so we went for the flu swab to find out.
Here is Wyatt at the hospial waiting for the flu swab.....they asked if he could wear a mask. Wha??? He's 10 months old, I doubt that is going to happen....got a pic of the "mask attempt".
Nope, no flu. Probably just a viral infection of some sort.....Fever got up to 104 that night/early next morning.
By Friday evening, no fever at all. Was fine like nothing had happened. YAY!
Halloween, which we weren't sure was going to be so great, went off without a hitch!
Yesterday, another new symptom popped up---a rash.
Called the doc. Based on his previous symptoms and the newest of the rash, it's Roseola!
So, at least we now know what wrong with the little guy.

Save-the-date??????

So I've been thinking a lot about what to do for Wy's birthday. It's hard to believe that it's so close that I really need to start planning something.
Question: What do you think about sending a save-the-date card to those I'm going to invite to his party?? The reason I was thinking about this is because of his birthday being just 6 days before Christmas. Is it tacky to send a save-the-date for a kids birthday party?? It's not as thought I'm inviting the whole town or anything, but people are so busy during the holidays with paries and all that I want to be sure to give them enough notice.
All my fellow December 08 mommies, what are you doing??

Oh, here is a pic of Pop, Yaya and Wyatt. Walker wasn't home when they first stopped by--he'd gone to play with his cousin, Hayden for a few hours.

And here is a random pic of our mutts. They sit together like this all the time to look out the screen door--The 3 Stooges!! If they aren't like this, they are usually tormenting each other.

Throwback Thursday

This week last year, here is the pic I posted on my blog:

Wyatt turned 10 months on Monday, October 19th. It just doesn't feel like he should be this close to being 1 year old. He has now been in the world longer than in my belly.

6 years ago this week, I was preparing for surgery for a fractured leg and Walker was almost 6 months old.

On this day in history:

October 22nd

1746 Princeton University received its charter.

1836 Sam Houston was inaugurated as the first elected president to the Republic of Texas.

1936 was the first commercial flight from the mainland to Hawaii.

1938 the first Xerox copy was made.

1968 Apollo 7 returns to earth.

Haunted House (party) and Pumpkin Farm pics

Fair warning.....picture overload!
It was such a busy and fun weekend. Saturday we had a birthday party/haunted house to attend. We all dressed up. I was the fortune teller for the party. I must say, the 13 year old girls made it very easy and fun! Randy was in the haunted house in the "killer workshop". Walker was a vampire and Wyatt a dinosaur.

Halloween Party/Haunted House
Not the greatest pic in the world, I'll have better after Halloween.

Guthrie's Pumpkin Farm

We had such a fun day on Sunday going to Riceville. The weather was perfect for picking pumpkins.....a perfect cool fall day! We love going to a pumpkin farm before Halloween. We started going a few years ago when we lived in Columbia. It's so much fun. It was a great family day.

Daycare Fall Fest

This morning was the Fall Fest at Wyatt's daycare. Because of the chance of rain, they moved it inside. There wasn't a whole lot going on for the babies this morning, but Walker was able to get his face painted. It was a great photo op, if nothing else. Here you go......

Throwback Thursday!

A year ago this week, this is the pic I posted in my pregnancy blog:

Here is a pic of Wyatt from last night being all silly and taking his first taste of brothers Go-Gurt. Oh, how time flies.

On This Day in History:
On October 8th, 1871 began the Great Chicago Fire. The first alarm sounded at 9:40am that Sunday morning. The fires lasted until early Tuesday morning, October 10th. An area of 4 miles long and about 3/4 mile wide was destroyed. There were approximately 200-300 casualties and almost 100,000 people were left homeless.
