Week 2 working....

Well, this was my 2nd full week back to work. Good grief am I tired. I'm looking forward to the days when Wyatt is sleeping through the night. Oh well, it'll come one of these days....or weeks....or months.....or years....who knows!
Walker had an over-all good week at school. Today wasn't a very good day, but I'm happy that the rest of the week was green or better. One bad day out of 4, that's like a 75, and that's still a passing grade! :)
Walker is going to spend the night with Nana on Saturday. I hope he'll have fun and mind.

Not much else to talk about this week. But I did take a really cute picture of Wyatt right before we left to pick up brother from school. Walker won't hardly let me take his picture these days....so nothing new of him.
This cute little outfit is courtesy of Renee, Brianna & Brittany. Thanks ladies!

Isn't he just the cutest little thing!
Randy's been working a lot this week. He'll be working this weekend too--probably Saturday & Sunday. I think once Walker is off to Nana's, Wyatt & I will hit Babies R Us---need to make a couple of exchanges.
TTFN!

Nice weekend/but bad service at Rib & Loin!

What a great weekend! It was a long weekend for Walker--he'll be going back to school tomorrow.
On Saturday my friend Shari and her two kiddos, Tyler & Olivia, came to town from Spring Hill, TN for a day visit. It was so great to see them. This was their first time meeting Wyatt. Walker was so happy that Tyler came for a visit. He wanted them to spend the night. Once we move to a new house and have more room they will, but for now the quarters are just too tight! I will admit, there will be no pictures of our visit together. For some reason it never crossed my mind until they left to take a freaking picture--I'm such a looser!! Oh well...we'll get pictures the next time we get together....which I hope is soon. We need to make a trip to Middle TN soon for a visit. The only dark spot to our visit was when we went to Rib & Loin (on Brainered Rd. in Chattanooga, TN) for dinner. We thought it would be good to go somewhere they can't go in Spring Hill/Nashville---let them try a local place. Well, the food was great, but the service was HORRIBLE!! It was the first time I've had a bad experience in that place, but I will tell you that Randy has said he will NEVER go back. It's a real shame that when you ask for refills from your waitress and she never returns.....for well over 10-15 minutes of 2 people having nothing at all to drink...and this when the same waitress we see refilling drinks and taking orders at other tables....we had to ask a bus boy for drinks and a manager. Well, the manager was as useless as the waitress--when we told her the problem, she just said "Well, I'm sorry, but she's real busy." WTH?!!? Are you kidding me?? Then the waitress finally shows back up at our table (after Shari had to go to the cashier to get carry out boxes) and apologizes but says that she asked the hostess to refill our drinks and she said she offered and we refused---again, WTH??!!!?? So basically our waitress called us liars! Then, when we were about to leave, she was at another table refilling tea, and says (in a smart ass way) "Do y'all need more tea while I have it?" Say it with me now, WTH??!!!????! So, Randy emailed the owner. We'll see what happens from that. I will just say, Rib & Loin--you've lost a former loyal customer to crappy service and management! Ok, I'm finished with my rant now. Sorry, but I had to get it out and say it publicly on my blog because I can! :)
On to Sunday........
Mom came over for a visit and to bring back the carpet cleaner....but really she wanted to see Wyatt....who really cares about the rest of us, right? JK, mom...but really, it was to see Wyatt! :) Renee, Brianna and Brittany came for a visit too. Brianna was having a great time holding Wyatt until he just barely started to spit-up a little...then, she couldn't get rid of him fast enough!! LOL Brittany took right over though, she didn't care a thing about a little spit-up. She's going to make such a great mommy one day----hopefully many, many years from now! Here are a few pics....I had to get Renee to send them to me from her blog (www.blevinsnewhouse.blogspot.com)because I, yet again, dropped the ball on taking pictures!

Randy and his mini-me (aka Wyatt)

Renee and the girls took Walker with them to see Hotel for Dogs. Walker had such a good time.....and, as Renee put it, she thinks he ate his weight in popcorn! I'm so glad they offered to take him with them to the movies. It'll be a while longer before I'm ready to leave Wyatt for over 2 hours to go to a movie.

Today, Mom came to pick Walker up for a trip to McDonalds. They went to the one on Gunbarrel so he could play on the indoor playground. He had a great time. Mom took him with her to a store where she buys stuff to make candy...she said he's the only kid she knows that would find some sort of toy he wanted from a candy store! She was strong though and didn't let him have his way...they were things to go on top of cakes, not real toys to play with. He still had fun. I'm very much appreciated the time too....even though I didn't accomplish all I set out to because of a major puke incident--you know the kind, a full bottle out the mouth and nose and all over everyone and everything!! Yep, that kind! :)

So, all in all it was a really good weekend. Randy did have to work part of the day on Saturday....but this weekend he may have to work Saturday and Sunday. I'm not going to complain at all--there's too many people looking for work to complain about the work we have....we should be thankful.
With that said, I'll also say this: I'm looking forward to tomorrow's Presidential Inauguration. I did not, myself, vote for Mr. Obama, but I'm excited about what his presidency means to our country. There were some core issues (to me) that were the reason I chose to vote for McCain; however, I will support our Commander in Chief. I am hopeful that he will do great things and that by him being where he is will encourage others to do great things. It is history in the making, that cannot be denied, no matter who you voted for in the election. We should all pray for Mr. Obama and the new administration that they make decisions that will be best for our country....that they will do right by our soldiers abroad and at home...they keep us safe, we must do right by them....that I say selfishly as I have 2 brothers in the military as most of you know--1 currently in Afghanistan serving with he US Army and 1 newly enlisted in the Air Force. Mr. Obama has promised change and hope, I hope he can deliver. It will be an uphill battle for him and we must be patient. Tomorrow is a "New Day" (as Will I Am put it)and there's seems to be a new hope buzzing in our country. I hope it will all be for the good.

Take care!!

What a week!

And it's not quite over yet. Whew, I'm beat. Trying to work with a newborn and only 3 weeks post op (well 4 today---yes, Wyatt is 4 weeks old today!) is a bit more difficult than I thought it would be. Not that I thought it would be a piece of cake...but I think once I kind of figure out a schedule of some sort it will be better. It'll just take some time to get the hang of this kind of multi-tasking.
Here's are some pics of my new days....notice there is no make up and my hair is clean, but air-dried....hasn't been brushed since it was wet. YIKES! Thank God I work from home!

Yes, that's a paci in my mouth!

FEED ME NOW!!!!!

Quite bliss!

I'm so excited that my BFF, Stacey, has her new computer up and running and is back online!! She missed all of my pregnancy blog. Stac, in you're spare time I expect you'll go back to the beginning of it and read every word....LOL I'm so glad Stacey is online again!!!
Walker is going to have a fun weekend......I'll be sure to blog post-weekend, but Shari, Tyler and Olivia are coming in for a day visit. We're so excited to see them! The kids are growing up so fast....Walker asks about Tyler often. We all miss them!
Then, Sunday Renee and the girls will be over for a baby visit and then Walker has been invited to go with them to the movies--Thanks Nay-nay! He'll have a great time. Plus, it's a long weekend for Walker...Monday is MLK Day and school is closed. I think Mom is going to take Walker to McDonalds for a bit sometime on Monday so he can have a Happy Meal and play on the playground. I'm trying to decide if he should really get to participate in all this fun...he had a really bad day at school yesterday----so bad that it involved a trip to the ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL'S OFFICE! OMG!! There's nothing quite like getting a call from the school telling you that your child has to spend the last 2.5hours of his day in the Principal's office because he chose to color on a desk and the wall while he was in timeout for misbehaving. UGH!!! So, Walker lost his DS, computer time and a couple of choice toys....plus his TV time has been limited as well. Here's hoping he gets a good report today......otherwise, more toys will be going.
****UPDATE**** Walker got a blue today!! YAY!!! They have color coding for their daily behavior. Red-Really needs improvement (this is the worst you can get), Yellow-Yucky Day, Orange-Okay Day, Green-Great Day, Blue-Best Day, Purple-Proud Day. I'm so happy he had a really good day at school today. Here is a picture of his blue check mark and one of Walker playing with his GI Joe when we got home.

Here are a couple of new pictures of Wyatt. He's getting so big! I don't know how much he weighs right now, but I think he's really packing on the lbs and inches!

Oh, I almost forgot to mention........Erika passed her lerners permit test!! In 10 short months she will be a licensed driver---OMG!! How scary is that!!! I'll tell you how scary, I was 20 when the child was born! There are people my age with kids her age! It makes me feel OLD!!! It really doesn't seem like that long ago she was just a baby like Wyatt. Well, at least she's old enough to baby sit! LOL Love ya, E! Congrats on passing your test!!!!

TTFN! Will blog again soon!

Going back to work

Ok, so I'm a few days late getting these pics posted as I promised. Time seems to get away from me and I am usually tired....so, I'll just not give myself a timeline to post things for now....at least until Wyatt is sleeping through the night and I'm not like the walking dead most of the time :)
Today is my first day back to work. I'm nervous about getting a schedule going. I'm sure this first week will be an adjustment. Some may think I'm crazy for even attempting to go back to work after only 3 weeks, but since I work part time from home and can keep the baby with me, why not? Plus, the sooner I go back to work, the faster we save $$ to move.
Here are some pics over the last few weeks.

Get this blog started

Ok, so you've probably been reading my pregnancy blog for months now. Well, I think now that Wyatt has arrived, there's no reason to stop blogging...but it's no longer about pregnancy, so here's the first post to The Douglas Four blog! WELCOME and ENJOY!
I'm going to cheat a bit for this first entry and include the last 2 posts from the pregnancy blog.
I still haven't downloaded any new pictures, but I will this week....I PROMISE!!!

Wyatt is 2 weeks old!

Well, it's hard to believe it's been 2 weeks since we welcomed Wyatt into the world. What an experience. I'm now officially allowed to drive!! YIPEE!
So, Tuesday we took Wyatt for his 1st doctor appointment. He's weighing 6lbs 7oz. I knew he'd lost weight since he was born, but we were so focused on getting out of the hospital I forgot to ask how much he weighed before we left...so I don't know what he got down to. The Dr. says they expect babies to be back up to their birth weight by the time they're 2 weeks old, so he's just fine.
We're not having much luck with nursing. I'm pumping several times a day, so he is getting 2-3 breastmilk bottles per day. It's disappointing, but I figure it's better than no breastmilk at all.
I haven't downloaded any new pictures yet, but I will soon. He's just the cutest little thing!
Walker is doing great with him. He loves his little brother, and it warms my heart when I see him pat Wyatt gently on the head and give him a kiss.
I'm feeling good. The incision is just a little sore still, but not near as bad as it was last week. I'm ready to feel like my old self again, but people keep reminding me that I just had major abdominal surgery and it takes time to heal. I guess they're right, but I am ready to get out of the house. I did venture to Babies R Us yesterday, which was great! Slowly, but surely, we're getting out and about!

Well, as I said I will post more pictures soon. I feel good to find the time to write this. You know, staring at a newborn baby and you loose track of time! :)
Take care and I'll blog again soon!

Wyatt Jacob is here!

Wyatt Jacob, 12/19/08 9:52pm 6lbs 8oz 19.5 in.

Here's my short version of his birth:

BP was high so went in for amnio on Thursday. During the initial ultrasound the doc said the baby's fluid was too low--half of what it had been the week before. No need to do an amnio, we need to have a baby. They sent me to the hospital to start my induction. They put in the Cervadil(sp?) that evening to thin the cervix. Started the Pitocin Friday morning.
I asked for an epi around 5cm. Doc checked me at 7-8cm and said he didn't think I'd be able to push the baby out b/c of my pelvis being too narrow, but that I could try...so, in trying to avoid a c-sec I told him I'd really like to try. I ended up pushing for a total of about 3 hours--including after my epi stopped working--to no avail. Baby couldn't get past the pelvic bone. So, exhausted, we went for a c-sec. They re-dosed my epi, but it didn't fully take and I felt the surgery--I heard the baby cry and I was out....they'd put me to sleep. I didn't get to see Wyatt until 2 am. He had to go to the Special Care Nursery b/c of his blood sugar being low. But he is fine now. I'd go thru it all again to get my new little man!
