Late Night Practice

Ball practice went pretty well last night considering the time. With Tuesday practices not starting until 7:30, it makes for a late night for 5 & 6 year old kids. By the end of practice, which was around 9pm I think, the kids were silly. There was a lot of playing in the dirt. I think overall they did really well. I was especially proud of Walker for holding it together as long as he did. I really expected that he would be bouncing off the walls, but he was pretty well controlled. Sure he got a little silly and was having a hard time focusing while standing on 3rd base for what probably seemed like hours to him. But, he wasn't the only one having a hard time....It is just a little late for little kids....especially when there's school the next day.

Um, as you can see we're trying to figure out the best way to take pics at night under those bright field lights.

We also ordered shirts and hats to support Walker during the games....Mom and I got shirts and Randy got a shirt and a hat. We're going to try to find a plain shirt for Wyatt and see about getting Walker's number put on it so he can wear team colors too.

We also got Walker's regular season schedule. WOW, big change from last year. In Spring Hill Little League the kids only played 8 games (I think). This year we have pre-season tournaments for the next 3 weekends. Regular season games start on April 4th, then I hear they also have post-season tournaments. We have 15 regular season games...2 of which are on Walker's birthday! I'm glad we found out now so I can plan his birthday party.....which I better get started on since it's now less than 2 months away. Where does the time go?

The Cleat Defeat

Walker is so excited about his new cleats he picked out yesterday, I wanted to share a picture. Let me preface the picture with this explanation:
These are not the cleats we intended to buy. For 5/6 year old baseball, I really could care less about the brand of shoes we buy....I guess I'm just cheap that way. I don't understand paying a lot of money for shoes they will get about 2-3 months use out of...because you know they won't fit them next year! Well, after our all day shopping on Saturday for baseball stuff and comparing prices of cleats, I decided Hibbett's had the best price. So we headed back there yesterday after I picked Walker up from school. I intended getting the $14.99 cleats. Well, wouldn't you know it, they didn't have his size in the $14.99 cleats! UGH!! They also don't have any more of the $19.99 Nike's that I saw there on Friday which was going to be my back up option. Great. I really don't want to go back out for cleats again, so I relent and let Walker pick from the $24.99 bunch. I know it's just $10, but it's really frustrating when I had only spent about $16 (with tax) in my mind. So, Walker decided on the red Nike's. I must say, they are cute...but just the other day at practice I had made the comment about how I would not spend the money to buy name brand stuff for 5/6 baseball because it's just a waste of money when they will out grow it....Open Mouth, Insert Foot....or should I say Cleat!

Great Week

I had the honor of having lunch with 2 long lost friends from high school on Thursday. It was so great to catch up. I'm so jealous though...Lana and Tara both look just like they did in high school! And here I am so fat and frumpy still wearing some of my maternity clothes because I can't fit into much else. But you know what, friends don't care about that....just about who you are as a person. None-the-less, it was so great to see them and to catch up...after all it has been 18 years since we graduated!! OMG, I'm getting SO old!! :) Tara and Lana got to meet Wyatt, you know he's my sidekick. They both have kids Walker's age...it was so neat to talk about the parallels of our lives even without being in touch for so long. Funny how that happens... I hope that we'll meet up on a regular basis now. I meant to take my camera, but forgot it after the whole crayon in the dryer fiasco just before I was heading out.

Thursday was also Walker's first baseball practice. They had to practice on the polo field, but at least they got one in since the last 2 were called off due to rain and cold. Walker was so excited that Alex, his classmate, is on his team. They are the Warriors and will have Red, Black & Gray uniforms. They will look so cute!

After practice we went out to look for Walker's baseball gear. Since his bag, bat, batting gloves and balls are in the back of the storage bldg, we got new stuff. Let me ask you this, who the heck buys a $200 bat for a 5/6 year old?? Well, I can tell you this, not us! Even if we pass it down to Wyatt, do you really get your money's worth?? I think not. So, Walker got another $20 bat and he's happy as a clam with it. We actually saw bats that were $600!! Um, can I get a H-E double hockey sticks, NO!!! We found great prices on new stuff at Play It Again Sports on Lee Hwy in Chattanooga. They were so helpful and the prices were great! We even splurged and got Walker a new bag. We got it for less than half the price it was at Hibbett's and Dick's. The only thing I didn't get there was Walker's cleats...I'm going back to Hibbett's--they had the best price on shoes.

Sunday Walker and Wyatt's presence was requested by their Nana, Ninny & Aunt Debbie. Here are a couple of pics mom took of Wyatt and Aunt Debbie:



While the kids were there, we took Walker's new helmet to the East Ridge Flea Market to be airbrushed. Not my favorite place in the world to go, but I was told the airbrushing place there was good.....and they were~ they did a great job. I also found a lady that make hair bows and embroiders them...I got one for my niece, Samantha, to match her ball uniform. Here's a picture of Walker wearing his newly airbrushed helmet:

It's not a great pic, but it's the only one I got and he wouldn't let me take another one....you know, he was too busy!

And just for good measure...here's a cute pic of Wyatt with his big toothless grin I took just before his mid-morning bottle.


My little man is growing so fast. He's now starting to wear 3-6 months size clothes!

Oh, goodness, I almost forgot to share some of my most important news of the week. I joined Weight Watchers!! Yep, and I have a WW buddy, Christa. We're gonna get skinny together!! Now, you know I'm not gonna share my weight with the world, but as I loose, I will share how much I'm loosing. It's taking some getting used to with the points system, but I'm so motivated!! I'm not overly concerned with the scale so much as how I look and feel. I have 2 little kids and I need to be in the best health possible. I'm so pumped about it!

One last thing for today....my brother will be home from Afghanistan at the end of this month! We're so excited his time there is almost done! We can't wait to see him, but most importantly, his wife and kids can't wait to see him!!!

Snow? What snow?

Well, yet another disappointing snow forecast for SE Tennessee/NW Georgia. Seems like here in the Chattanooga area we get nothing but rain. To the North, South, East and West of us was snow....but did it fall here?? Oh, maybe a few flakes early in the morning but that's it!
I was so hoping Walker would FINALLY get the snow he's been wishing for all winter. What a let down....not even a dusting to take pictures in.

It's a sad, sad day here in Chattanooga. :(

Baby Laith Update

Please look at this link. Baby Laith is in desperate need of a heart transplant. His parents have insurance, but it doesn't cover transplants. They make too much money to qualify for assistance.

This breaks my heart.

Is there no facility or doctor willing to do this pro bono? What about all of these doctors who travel to foreign countries to perform life saving surgeries on children? What about the doctors and facilities here in the US who welcome children from foreign countries with life-threatening illnesses and provide treatment free of charge to them?? Why can we not help our own first and foremost??

LOL!!!!!! How cute is that!?!
After I got Wyatt dressed for bed, Randy took him to our room and put him down on the bed....Randy asked me to look for Wyatt....it was so funny that his little sleeper so closely resembles our sheets! I told Randy, it's like trying to find Waldo! hehe! You know I HAD to take a picture.

Walker wanted to get in on the photo action too...I was happy to oblige since he so rarely wants to be photographed these days....
